Baseball Team Wins Class A Region 4 Championship
The Fox Creek
High School baseball team won their first Class A Region 4
Championship on Monday, April 16th by defeating the
defending Region Champions Wagener-Salley 4-2. Starting pitcher
Chris Ledbetter was the winning pitcher, but was injured in the top
of the fourth inning and freshman Aaron Steedley came on for the
save. Steedley also lead the offensive charge by going 2 for 3.
The Predators hold a record of 13-4 overall and a 10-1 record in the
region. “We focus on fundamentals, discipline, and eliminating
mistakes,” stated Head Coach David Bell. “This is only the teams
second year playing, and the first year Fox Creek has been eligible
for the Region Title and State playoffs. This title is great for
the players, the school, and the Merriwether community. Our young
men represent the community well.” Season stat leaders include
Jeremy Lacey with 53 strikeouts, 3 Wins, and an Earned Run Average
(ERA) of 2.80. Lacey is also second on the team in hitting with a
0.403 batting average. Chris Ledbetter leads the team pitching with
6 Wins, 1 Loss, and an ERA of 4.32. Caleb Bell holds the top
hitting spot with a batting average of 0.489, an on base average of
0.662, and leads the CSRA with 30 RBI’s. Cody Willing, the
speedster on the team, also leads the CSRA with 35 stolen bases
