Miss Fox Creek Crowned
ALL THAT JAZZ at
Merriwether Elementary School Saturday night was, indeed, a night to
remember for 33 young ladies in the Miss Fox Creek High School
Pageant. Opening the show with a snappy dance number, the
contestants awed the audience with beauty and energy; an invitation
was extended to enjoy the rest of the program.
The girls, who
had a brunch/interview with the judges that morning, began the
on-stage competition modeling sportswear followed by evening wear.
After the evening gown competition, the top twelve contestants
endured the on-stage interview. According to the judges, choosing a
winner was difficult with so many girls who seemed to be close to
each other, who seemed to be of high character, and who are
genuinely beautiful on the inside as well as the outside.
Winners were
announced beginning with “Most Ad Sales” won by Hannah Jacobs.
Amber Bryan was named Miss Photogenic with first runner-up, Megan
Folland, and second runner-up, Victoria Oliver. Miss Congeniality,
voted on by the contestants, was awarded to Sarah Cartrett who has
won this coveted position two consecutive years.
Miss Freshman
was presented to Jade Bryan and the runner-up was Mary Kate Turner.
Casey Mathis won Miss Sophomore and the runner-ups were Catherine
Sack (first) and Devin Lacey (second). Miss Junior was awarded to
Courtney Turner; runner-ups were Victoria Oliver (first) and
Courtney Carter (second). Megan Bryant was named Miss Senior. The
senior runner-ups were Hollynd Dyches (first) and Anna Wade
(second). Christy Mayson was crowned Miss Fox Creek High School
2007.
Tears of joy,
excitement, and some of disappointment followed the announcements;
all the girls agreed that the months of preparation and practice
were worth every minute. |
