FCHS Softball Team Wins
Class A Region 4 Championship
The
Fox Creek High School softball team won the Class A Region 4
Championship on Friday, April 13 when they defeated Calhoun County
18-0. The Lady Predators have a regular season record of 11-4 and
are 9-1 in their region. “They have worked extremely hard all year
and have grown as a team and as individuals” stated Head Coach
Amanda Schneider. This is only the second year that Fox Creek has
had a softball team and they are already reaching their goals. “We
set out to win the region this year and we did it.” Leading hitters
for the Predators include senior Ashlyn Poss with a batting average
of 0.583, sophomore Lyndsay Templeton batting 0.500 and senior Sandy
Padgett batting 0.465. The leading pitcher for Fox Creek is
freshman Danielle Payne with a 0.60 ERA, 51 strikeouts on the
season, has thrown a perfect game, and holds the Predator record of
14 strikeouts in one game. Also in the bull-pin is freshman Breanna
Thomasson. Thomasson has an ERA of 2.06 and 49 strikeouts for the
season. “I have a real young team and I can not wait to see what
they can do in the upcoming years, but first we are going to take it
one game at a time starting on Thursday,” said Schneider.
