Every year
qualifying Volunteers will be treated to special
recognition. As you volunteer, be SURE to log your
hours!

Every household
represented at FCHS has committed to contribute 30 volunteer hours per
year; these hours are over and above the 10 community hours which must
be fulfilled by each FCHS student. The Volunteer Committee is a central
forum in which to coordinate opportunities with volunteers, as well as
the registrar for those volunteer hours.
The links below are
for your use in contacting us with suggestions or to volunteer as well
as to log your hours; or if you prefer, there is also a logbook in the
office. We'll tally the hours and qualifying families will be honored
at our annual Volunteer Recognition.
There are lots of
ways to volunteer at FCHS! Some options are:
-
Library workers
-
Tutors, teachers' aides
-
Field trip chaperones, cars and drivers
-
Lunchroom monitor
-
Committee workers
-
Grant writing, fund raising
-
Sport related ops - ticketers, concessions,
cleanup
-
Prom, Graduation exercises
-
Qualified maintenance (electrical, plumbing)
-

SNACK SPONSORS
needed for various events; ever feel left out because
you cannot physically participate? Well if you like to
bake we have developed a formula to extend volunteer
credit in exchange for baked goods or snacks of most any
kind. We've even figured a way to extend volunteer
credit for providing hard goods such as paper plates,
cups, napkins, flatware, etc.
Here's the formula:
$10 spent is worth one volunteer hour
Time spent baking is doubled, i.e. 30 minutes = 1
volunteer hour
As goods are delivered to the school, you earn an extra
1 hour
EXAMPLE, if you agreed to bake cookies and you spent $10
purchasing the ingredients (you get 1 hour), then it
took you 1.5 hours to mix and bake them (you get another
3 hours) and finally as you deliver them to the school
or event (you get another 1 hour) so all totaled you
will have earned 5 volunteer hours for providing cookies
for a particular event! Be fair, it does not take an
hour and a half for ONE DOZEN cookies, so know that for
1.5 hours, we'd be looking for a couple dozen cookies!

Volunteer work need not be limited to
school hours, or even school days. With a little notice, someone can
be available to open gates or the school building if your approved activity requires
access to campus grounds or inside the school building. If you have
suggestions for other projects, you may submit your ideas at this link
Volunteer Application Form. Other ideas for the continuous
improvement of our school are welcome and may be submitted in care of Ms.
Stewart's email address below.
Log your volunteer times and activities on the
Volunteer Log-In Report.
"Never doubt that a small
group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world;
indeed it's the only thing that ever has!"
- Margaret Meade
Parents should remember that returning
students who, along with their household, have fulfilled their volunteer
hours will have first option at registration. Any student and/or
household failing to fulfill the required volunteer hours will have to
qualify in the same manner as first-time registrants, space permitting.
You may contact us to volunteer for an activity, or to log in your hours by
